The marker and the book
A marble marker now stands on the grounds of the Old Schoolhouse in the hamlet of Middlefield. It is inscribed with a tribute to all men and women of Middlefield who served in the United States Armed Forces. TMHA is sponsoring the compilation of a book listing veterans with any connection to the Town of Middlefield, as well as their service records and biographical information. After publication, copies of the book will be available at TMHA headquarters at the Old Middlefield Schoolhouse, and in the Town Historian Files in the Middlefield Town Hall.
We invite you to share the stories of your family's veterans, from the French and Indian War to the present day. To help us build this book, please print and fill out the veteran information form to the best of your ability, using a separate sheet for each veteran in your family, and additional sheets if needed. Copies of photos, newspaper articles, and obituaries would also be important contributions. These contributions, along with records in TMHA collections will become the pages of the Memorial Book.
In addition to your contributions of veteran information, we welcome financial support from those who are able to help us with expenses for the marker and books. Contributions made by check are payable to the Town of Middlefield Historical Association. All contributions, whether financial or informational, are deeply appreciated.
Return by mail to Town of Middlefield Historical Association, PO Box 348, Cooperstown, NY 13326.
